SLS actively contributes to highlighting and enabling the diversity of the literature that is published in Swedish in Finland.
We award printing and translation grants to publishers, associations, and organizations. We also offer residency scholarships for authors, as well as other types of support for production of literature.
Links to detailed information about the grants and application deadlines can be found here.
Finland-Swedish literature is also recognized through numerous literary prizes, especially in connection with the major award ceremony at our annual celebration.
SLS has primary responsibility for the joint initiative that supports the participation of Finland-Swedish publishers and producers at book fairs. We are responsible for the section, coordination, and programme of the Swedish area at the Helsinki Book Fair.
We also support Swedish-speaking schools by distributing entrance tickets to the fair.
At the Gothenburg Book Fair, we are responsible for the stand and the Finland-Swedish stage, Lilla Finland.
Other co-funders include Svenska kulturfonden, Amos Andersons fond, Stiftelsen Brita Maria Renlunds minne, Svenska folkskolans vänner and Tre Smeder.
We are responsible for the Finland-Swedish book catalogue, which is published every autumn. It provides visibility for publishers and other literary actors.
In cooperation with the Swedish magazine Vi Läser, we promote literature published in Swedish in Finland through an annual special issue.
